목적 : To compare the expression profile of aquaporins(AQPs), a family membrane proteins that function as selective pores in the epithelium of the lacrimal sac of the patient with primary or functional nasolacrimal duct obstruction
방법 : Forty lacrimal sacs obtained from each 20 patients with primary nasolacrimal duct obstruction (group 1) and functional nasolacrimal duct obstruction (group 2) during endoscopic endonasal dacryocystorhinostomy (EDCR). Western blot and immunohistochemical analysis were performed to determine the presence and distribution of AQPs in epithelium and subepithelial glands of the nasolacrimal ducts.
결과 : AQPs 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 were identified by Western blot analysis. Quantified level AQPs were higher in group 2 although it was not statistically significant (p=0.857 in AQP 1, p=0.370 in AQP 2, p=0.813 in AQP 3, p=0.766 in AQP 4, p=0.429 in AQP 5 by Mann-Whitney U test). Immunohistochemical analyses revealed AQPs 1, 3, 5, 7, and 10. Expression of AQP 1, 3, 5, 7, and 10 were stronger in group 2 and was statistically significant (p=0.022 in AQP 1, p=0.028 in AQP 3, p=0.002 in AQP 5, p=0.041 in AQP 7, p=0.001 in AQP 10 Mann-Whitney U test).
결론 : Aquaporin expression in functional nasolacrimal duct obstruction had a tendency of being higher than in primary nasolacrimal duct obstruction, although it was only statistically significant in immunohistochemistry.
