목적 : The purpose of this study was to determine if upgaze had an effect on eyelid position in a group of children with unilateral or bilateral congenital ptosis. 방법 : Twenty patients were recruited for this study. Clinical photographs were taken in primary gaze and upgaze. An 8 millimetre circular disc was placed on the child’s forehead as a measuring guide. 결과 : There were 11 males and 9 females in this study. Mean age was 4.2 years1.9 (range 4 months to 9 years). 7 patients had bilateral and 13 had unilateral ptosis. 27 eyes were noted to have ptosis. There was a statistically significant decrease in margin reflex distance two (MRD 2) from 5.90.8mm in primary gaze to 5.21.2mm in upgaze and an increase in margin reflex distance one (MRD 1) from 0.91.7 mm in primary gaze to 2.02.5 mm in upgaze. There was no significant difference in eyelid position between eyes with and without ptosis. 결론 : The increase in MRD1 and decrease in MRD2 suggests that the lower eyelid and upper eyelid both move up with upgaze. Upgaze does not have an effect on eye fissure height (EFH), eye fissure width (EFW) and upper lid height (ULH).
