목적 : To investigate the surgical outcome of combined lateral canthoplasty and permanent tarsorrhapy for correction of paralytic ectropion in patients with facial nerve palsy.
방법 : A retrospective chart review was performed in patients who underwent paralytic ectropion repair using lateral tarsal strip combined with minimal temporal permanent tarsorrhaphy (5 mm) from Jan 2010 until Dec 2012. Patients with at least 1 year of follow up were only included. An analysis of preoperative and postoperative measurements included lagophthalmos (mm), grade of superficial punctate keratopathy, and tear break-up time (sec).
결과 : 22 patients with 22 eyes were included for analysis. There was significant improvements of lagophthalmos, grade of superficial punctuate keratopathy and tear break up time at both 1 month and 1 year of postoperative follow-up (all p<0.01). At 1 year after surgery, mean value of superficial punctuate keratopathy (grade) and tear break up time (sec) became worse slightly compared to those at 1 month of surgery, albeit not significantly different (p=0.716, p=0.632). Complications or recurred ectropion requiring reoperation did not occur during the follow-up period.
결론 : Lateral canthoplasty combined with minimal temporal permanent tarsorrhapy is a safe and effective surgical technique for long-term with minimal cosmetic disfigurement and complications in the treatment of lower eyelid paralytic ectropion.
