목적 : To suggest appropriate surgical methods and amount affecting the outcomes in infantile exotropia
방법 : In this retrospective study, clinical records of 44 children who had undergone bilateral lateral rectus recessions before 4 years of age for an exotropia present before 12 months of age were studied. Children had one year of follow up after surgery. Patients were separated into those who had traditional surgery and those who received a reduced recession of their lateral recti.
결과 : Traditional group comprised 36% of the patients and the modified group comprised 64% of the patients. There was borderline significance in the initial postoperative angle of deviation between the two groups (p=0.074, Traditional group: 5.25 PD esodeviation versus Modified group: 2.91 PD esodeviation). However, there was no statistical difference in the final postoperative angle of the deviation groups (p=1.00, conventional group: 2.63 PD exodevation versus modified group: 2.91 PD exodeviation)
결론 : Postoperative surgical outcome was not affected by reduction of surgical amount of lateral rectus recession. However, modified surgery may be safe and reduce risk of overcorrection in this age group.
