목적 : To investigate the development of dissociated vertical deviation (DVD) and the factors associated with the development and the severity of DVD in patients who underwent surgery for infantile esotropia. 방법 : Medical records of 90 patients who underwent surgery for infantile esotropia were reviewed. The development, the severity (manifest vs. latent), and the onset of DVD were assessed. Patients were divided into three groups: A manifest, latent, and absent DVD group. The age at the time of initial surgery, angle of deviation of infantile esotropia, anisometropia, stereopsis measured at the final visit, and history of premarurity were recorded and compared. 결과 : DVD was detected in 52 patients (57.8%) out of total 90 patients. Of 52 patients with DVD, 34 patients demonstrated manifest DVDs and 18 patients showed latent DVDs. A lesser percentage of early surgery at 24 months or before and a greater percentage of large angle of eso-deviation were found in a manifest DVD group (29.4% and 50.0 %) than in a latent DVD (77.8% and 11.1%) and in an absent DVD group (84.2% and 13.2 %). 결론 : Surgery for infantile esotropia at 24 months or before and large angle of eso-deviation influenced the development of manifest DVD.
