목적 : To compare surgical outcome of bilateral lateral rectus recession (BLR) and unilateral lateral rectus recession combined with medial rectus resection (RR) for the basic type of intermittent exotropia with meta-analysis
방법 : This meta-analysis included 6 case-control studies, which provided a total of 310 BLR cases and 363 RR cases. Summarized odds ratio was employed to evaluate the success rate and recurrence rate using random-effects (RE) model.
결과 : In terms of success rate and recurrence rate, significant between-study heterogeneity was observed (p<0.001). Under a RE model, the summarized OR suggested a 1.73-fold increase in success rate of RR than that of BLR, which was statistically insignificant (z=1.161, p=0.246). Under a RE model, the summarized OR suggested a 0.413-fold decrease in recurrence rate of RR than that of BLR, which was also statistically insignificant (z=-1.463, p=0.143). The distribution of the OR in the funnel-plot was symmetrical, suggesting a low probability of publication bias (p>0.05).
결론 : Our meta-analysis demonstrated that surgical outcomes after surgery for basic type intermittent exotropia were not different between BLR and RR.
