목적 : To determine the effectiveness of intravitreal autologous platelet concentrate (APC) injection during the surgery for refractory macular holes (MHs).
방법 : This prospective, interventional case series included 13 eyes of 13 consecutive patients who underwent intravitreal APC injection during vitrectomy and ILM removal for the treatment of refractory MHs. The diagnoses of these patients were chronic large idiopathic MHs (5 eyes), myopic MHs (6 eyes), recurred idiopathic MH (1 eye) and MH in eye status post ILM removal (1 eye). The main outcome measures were closure of MH and change of best corrected visual acuity (BCVA).
결과 : MHs were successfully closed initially in all eyes (100%) after combination of intravitreal APC injection and ILM removal. One eye of recurred idiopathic MH developed reopening of MH again at 3 months after surgery. The mean postoperative BCVAs were significantly improved, when compared with the mean preoperative BCVAs (p = 0.043).
결론 : Although this study is limited by the small number of cases, the results suggest that intravitreal APC injection as an adjuvant of vitrectomy may improve anatomical and visual outcomes in the treatment of refractory macular holes.
