목적 : We have developed an algorithm, the Ganglion cell-inner plexiform layer (GCIPL) Hemifield Test, for automated evaluation of single macular GCIPL thickness map in glaucoma. This study was to compare the glaucoma diagnostic capabilities of the GCIPL Hemifield Test with peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer (pRNFL) thickness.
방법 : In 63 glaucomatous and 51 preperimetric glaucoma patients—along with 65 healthy individuals—two scans, including one macular scan and one pRNFL scan, were obtained using a spectral-domain Cirrus HD-OCT. Limits of normal range in up-down differences of macula GCIPL thickness map were defined as the two standard deviation from the mean value of 65 healthy individuals. The values of up-down differences and their interpretations of “within normal limits” or “outside normal limits” were automatically-computed using customized MATLAB program.
결과 : Under GCIPL Hemifield Test, the proportion of outside normal limits in glaucomatous patients was 98.4% (62 of 63 eyes), which was higher than in preperimetric glaucoma patients (88.2%, 6 of 51 eyes) and healthy individuals (1.5%, 1 of 65 eyes). In the glaucomatous patients, the AUROC of the GCIPL Hemifield Test was not significantly different from that of average pRNFL thickness (0.984 vs. 0.979, P=0.737). However, the AUROC in discriminating preperimetric glaucoma patients and healthy individuals was significantly higher for the GCIPL Hemifield Test (0.953 vs. 0.732, P <0.001).
결론 : The GCIPL Hemifield Test was useful for glaucoma discrimination, especially in the patients with preperimetric glaucoma.
