본문 : Purpose : To report a case of Phthirus pubis on eyelashes in 56 years female patient Case report : 56 years old female patient visited outpatient clinic due to pruritus on right eyelashes which started a week ago. On examination, there was a 1.8 mm sized imago with a pair of feelers and three pairs of legs arose from thorax. Also there were ten eggs around the imago which were sized about 0.5 mm. There was no dermatic lesions around the eyelids, and no ophthalmological abnormalities from slit lamp microscope. Every observed imago and eggs were removed by forcep and collected for optical microscopic inspection through slit lamp examination. They were revealed as 1.75 x 0.8 mm sized Phthirus pubis, and eggs were attached next to eyebrow as oval shape with translucent keratinous tissues. No further medication or management was conducted and no recurrence or complications in ophthalmology and dermatology occurred. Discussion : Cases of Phthirus pubis on eyelashes have been decreased recently, so it can be misdiagnosed as other more frequent inflammatory conditions. However, Phthirus pubis on eyelashes can cause eyelid inflammations without early treatment. Therefore, it is important to suspect the Phthirus pubis when clinically similar presentation occurs especially on slit lamp examination, and to consider the treatment for the right diagnose.
