본문 : We report a case of diffuse choroidal hemangioma (DCH) in a 22-year-old man with Sturge-Weber syndrome (SWS). Visual acuity testing registered only hand motion, and a huge exudative retinal detachment was present. The DCH was treated with oral propranolol, and after 9 months, there was significant reduction of the retinal detachment without systemic or local adverse effects. Propanolol is a β-blocker commonly used in cardiology that may induce endothelial vasoconstriction and inhibit endothelial proliferation. Its success in our patient suggests a possible new use for DCH; however, further studies are needed to confirm our observations. |
