목적 : To examine the association of systemic hypertension with open-angle glaucoma (OAG).
방법 : We conducted a meta-analysis of published studies. A comprehensive search for articles published up 31 December 2012 was performed from PubMed, Embase, and reference lists. Pooled odds ratio (OR) of systemic hypertension as a risk factor for OAG were calculated using a random effects model.
결과 : Twenty six effect sizes and 71,438 individuals from 25 studies were included in the meta-analysis. There was substantial heterogeneity among the studies. Using the random effects model, the pooled OR of the association between systemic hypertension and OAG was 1.31 (95% CI: 1.14-1.52) in all included studies. For 15 population based studies, the heterogeneity was slightly lowered, but the pooled OR was not changed significantly as 1.34 (95% CI: 1.13-1.58). Publication bias was not detected in both analyses.
결론 : Systemic hypertension increases the risk of developing OAG.
