목적 : To address the clinical course of intermittent exotropia patients who initially presented with small exodeviation (≥10 and ≤18 prism diopters [PD]) and to investigate the risk factors associated with disease progression. 방법 : The clinical records of patients who were first diagnosed with intermittent exotropia of small initial deviation from August 1, 2008 to March 31, 2011 and were followed up for 2 or more years were reviewed retrospectively. The initial clinical features which associated with the risk of disease progression were analyzed. 결과 : Among 64 patients who met the inclusion criteria, 37 reached a distant deviation of 20 or more PD and 9 showed an increment of distance deviation by 10 or more PD during the follow-up. Cumulative percentages of patients whose distant deviation reached 20 or more PD and whose distance deviation increased by 10 or more PD at 24 months were 47.4% and 14.1%, respectively. The cumulative probability of exodeviation progress to 20 or more PD was significantly higher in patients with initial stereoacuity <100 seconds of arc (SA) compared to that of whose initial stereoacuity was ≥100 SA . 결론 : In patients initially presenting with small exodeviation, nearly half of the patients are expected to reach a final distant deviation of 20 or more PD after 2 years of follow-up and worse initial stereoacuity was associated with increased cumulative probability of exotropia progression to 20 or more PD.
