목적 : To define the underlying macular diseases of patients with focal choroidal excavation and study their morphologic changes.
방법 : The medical records of 32 patients (37 eyes) with focal choroidal excavation (FCE) were reviewed. Clinical histories and imaging findings (including color photography, fluorescein angiography, indocyanine green angiography, spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT), and enhanced depth imaging spectral-domain optical coherence tomography) were analyzed. Among the included eyes, 17 eyes were followed-up with SD-OCT for more than six months and their morphologic changes were analyzed.
결과 : The average age was 48.3 ± 15.9 years and refractive error was -4.6 ± 3.1 diopters. The most commonly associated disease was myopic choroidal neovascularization (n=9) and central serous chorioretinopathy (n=5), epiretinal membrane (n=5), punctate inner choroidopathy (n=4), polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy (n=4), rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (n=2), myopic foveoschisis (n=1), chorioretinal scar (n=1) choroidal nevus (n=1) were also detected in the eyes with FCE or in their unaffected fellow eyes. Six eyes did not have FCE in the initial OCT images and developed FCE during the follow-up.
결론 : FCE were detected in the eyes with various macular diseases. Six eyes, which developed FCE de novo, suggested that FCE might be the result of disease process.
