목적 : Regarding the relationship between physical fitness and intraocular pressure (lOP), the existing literature is controversial, with some associations inconsistent. So, we want to find out results, which can support one of them.
방법 : Subjects were categorized into control and experimental groups, each consisting of 16 subjects. The experimental group took a supervised exercise programmed of three months. To minimize the any kind of bias, transport service, intaking foods were controlled and testing was performed after a complete rest of 15 minutes in supine posture. Intraocular pressure was measured with the Goldman’s applanation tonometer, after applying 0.5% proparacaine HCl solution with fluoresein dye paper to eyes, first in the right one and then in the left.
결과 : The experimental group showed a marked decrease of their intraocular pressure (IOP). Before the test performing, The first difference between control and experimental groups was 0.12±0.26 mmHg (p>0.05). After three months, this difference increased to 0.92±0.27 mmHg (p<0.01).
결론 : It would seem reasonable at present not to discourage patients who have glaucoma from light exercise, perhaps, on the contrary, it should be encouraged. Mechanisms can be various that exercise alters episcleral venous pressure like systemic vascular dynamics, or the hormonal changes and metabolites produced during exercise make it possible.
