목적 : To report a case of a ocular toxocariasis in 44- year -old HIV positive male patient
방법 : A 44-year-old male presented with a 1 month history of metamorphopsia in the right eye. He had no particular past medical history. He denied traveling out of the country and contact with animals or animal feces. His initial best-corrected visual acuity was 20/250 in the right eye and 20/20 in the left eye. In slit-lamp examination, no inflammatory cell was observed. A dilated fundus examination revealed inflammatory exudate with fibrous tissue on the macular of the right eye. Focal leakage was observed in the fluorescein angiography.
결과 : In the blood test, ESR and CRP were increased and Toxocariasis antibody and HIV were positive. Albendazole and oral prednisolone were given and followed for 4 months. No subretinal fluid was observed 1 months after medication and maintained for following 3 months. His final best corrected visual acuity of the right eye showed no improvement.
결론 : In HIV positive individuals, ocular toxocariasis can also be diagnosed without inflammatory cell reaction. Therefore, differential diagnosis of retinal diseases related to HIV infection should include ocular toxocariasis.
