목적 : Filtration failure due to excessive postoperative scarring remains a major problem after glaucoma surgery. We have investigated whether porcine chondrocyte derived extracellular membrane (PCDECM) can reduce postoperative scar formation and improve surgical outcome in a rabbit model of modified glaucoma filtering surgery.
방법 : The in vivo effect of the porcine chondrocyte derived extracellular membrane (PCDECM) was investigated in a rabbit model of modified glaucoma filtering surgery by immunohistological analysis of inflammation, fibrosis and angiogenesis.
결과 : Compared with the surgery-no PCDECM group, there was no significant difference with regard to inflammation at the area of sclera flap lesion at 6 postoperative weeks (P=0.19) However, a significant reduction in the degree of fibrosis and angiogenesis at modified filtration area was observed in the surgery-PCDECM groups (P=0.002, P=0.036).
결론 : The PCDECM is able to inhibit the angiogenesis and fibrosis, and also improved the outcome of glaucoma filtration surgery in an animal model of aggressive scarring by reducing angiogenesis and fibrosis.
