목적 : To report clinical characteristics of periocular infection associated with the Lester Jones tube.
방법 : Retrospective case series.
We studied 5 eyes of 5 patients who had signs of periocular infection sign following implant of a Jones tube.
All patients presented with bad tube position and infection signs. All cultures were positive for methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), which was sensitive to vancomycin and rifampicin on the antibiotics susceptibility test.
결과 : All patients were prescribed a combination therapy of topical ocular vancomycin and oral rifampicin. During the course of treatment, periocular symptoms improved.
결론 : Patients who show signs of periocular infection associated with a dislocated Jones tube, ocular discharge samples should be collected and cultured to identify the type of infection. Based on bacterial culture results, the proper medicine should be administrated to treat the periocular infection associated with Jones tube dislocation. Before or after medical therapy, the Jones tube repositioning is also necessary to prevent periocular infection recurrence.
