목적 : To report 2 cases of Streptococcus mitis/oralis endophthalmitis that developed after complicated iris-fixated phakic intraocular lens implantation (pIOL).
방법 : In both cases, each patient received secondary intraocular intervention to lower intraocular pressure. The patients were managed with intravitreal and intracameral antibiotics injection with topical fortified antibiotics administration. Culture results of the aqueous humor were positive for S. mitis/oralis, which was sensitive to the antibiotics used.
결과 : Clinical features started to improve 4~5 days after treatment and repeated B-san showed no vitreous involvement. The pIOL remained and the patient’s uncorrected distant visual acuity and endothelial cell count were 20/32 and 3143cells/mm2 in the first case, 20/20 and 2621 cells/mm2 in the second case, respectively.
결론 : Streptococcus mitis/oralis endophthalmitis in eye with pIOL implantation could be managed with sensitive antibiotics injection without pIOL removal on condition that the eye had improved within several days after initial intensive managements in the absence of vitreous involvement.
