목적 : To assess outcomes of primary glaucoma surgeries in fellow eyes.방법 : A retrospective chart review of patients who had undergone bilateral trabeculectomies and Ahmed valve implantations over a 6-year period was done. Preoperative data, postoperative intraocular pressure, and visual acuity were monitored at 1 day and 1, 3, 6, and 12 months after the surgery.결과 : There were 17 patients who had received bilateral trabeculectomies and 12 patients who had undergone bilateral Ahmed valve implantations during this period. Of the 29 bilateral cases, postoperative IOP was significantly lower in the first eye group vs the fellow eye group (p=0.03). The rate of complete success, qualified success, and failure was 8 yes (28%), 19 eyes (66%), and 2 eyes (7%), respectively, in the first eyes. The rates were 7 eyes (24%), 17 eyes (59%), and 5 eyes (17%), respectively in the fellow eyes. There was no difference in the outcome between the two groups (p=0.42). 결론 : In patients who had undergone bilateral primary glaucoma surgeries, although there was no difference in the outcome between the first eyes and the fellow eyes, the postoperative intraocular pressure was significantly lower in the first eye group. Failures of first eyes may be a reason to use more aggressive treatment in primary glaucoma surgeries of the fellow eye. This may be important for patient counseling before surgery. |
