| The Novel Screening method for Glaucoma Eyes with Myopic Tilted Disc : The crescent sign |

| 목적 : To evaluate adiagnostic ability of a novel screening modality for glaucoma named as ‘Crescent sign’(presence of a discontinuity in the temporal rim) in comparison with the ISNT rule (that normal eyes show a characteristic configuration for disc rim thickness of inferior≥superior≥nasal≥temporal) and the modified ISNT rule (application of ISNT rule based on the long axis of the disc)방법 : In this retrospective study, subjects who had myopic tilted disc underwent comprehensive ophthalmic examinations. Two masked glaucoma specialists assessedthe optic disc on stereoscopic disc photography for the adherence to the ISNT rule, the modified ISNT rule and the crescent sign, independently. Seventy subjects with glaucoma and 70 with normal subjectswere enrolled.결과 : The ISNT rule and the modified ISNT rule were violated in 71.4%, 71.9%of glaucoma eyes and 30%, 24.3% of normal eyes. In addition, the crescent sign was observed in 90% of glaucomaeyes and in 15.7% of normal eyes (all P <0.01).For diagnosing glaucoma, the crescent signshowed the highest sensitivity(90.0%) followed by the modified ISNT rule(72.9%) and the ISNT rule(71.4%) while there was no significant difference in the specificities. Adjusting for sex and age, the odds ratioof glaucoma was highest in the crescent sign(60.40) followed by modified ISNT rule (12.60) and ISNT rule (6.07).결론 : The presence of the discontinuity between the superior rim or the inferior rim and the temporal rim may be a useful screening tool for early glaucoma in myopic tilted disc. |
