| Nationwide 5-Year Incidence of Rhegmatogenous Retinal detachment in Korea: from Korean national health claim database |

| 목적 : To estimate the incidence and demographics of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD) which required therapeutic surgery in Korea using Korean national health claim database during the study period of 2007 to 2011.방법 : RRD cases of patients who underwent surgery for RRD from 2007 to 2011 were retrospectively identified by both diagnostic code of RRD and surgical codes of retinal detachment surgeries (scleral buckling and vitrectomy) using Korean national health claim database. We estimated the incidence of RRD and determined the demographic features.결과 : A total of 24928 RRD cases was identified in Korea during the 5-year study period from 2007 to 2011. The average incidence of RRD during the study period was 10.39 per 100,000 per person-year (95% CI, 10.26-10.52). The average RRD incidence in males (11.32 per 100,000 per person-year) was significantly higher than the incidence in females (9.47 per 100,000 per person-year). The peak RRD incidence of 28.55 per 100,000 per person-year was determined at 65 to 69 years age group in general population, and either in males and in females.결론 : We reported the nationwide 5-year average RRD incidence of 10.39 per 100,000 per person-year from largest study population ever studied. |
