목적 : To describe the clinical features and surgical outcomes in a series of pediatric patients with rhegmatogenous retinal detachments (RRD) in Korea 방법 : Retrospective study of pediatric patients with RRD dated between 2006 and 2010. Patients with perforating ocular trauma and active ROP were excluded. Patients were divided into four groups according to the predisposing factors: Group 1, those with congenital or developmental anomalies; Group 2, those with blunt trauma history; Group 3, those with high myopia greater than -6 D; Group 4, those with miscellaneous. Patients’ age, sex, medical history, previous visual acuity, number and type of surgeries performed, , postoperative retinal status, and current visual acuity were recorded. 결과 : Seventy seven eyes of 70 patients were included in this study. The mean age was 12.6 years, and 81% of patients were boys. There were 22 eyes (28.6%) in Group 1, 9 in Group 2 (11.7%), 35 in Group 3 (45.5%), and 28 in Group 4 (36.4%). Bilateral retinal detachment was present in 17 patients (22%). In Group 1, congenital or juvenile cataract was present in 7 eyes; optic disc or choroidal coloboma was present in present in 4 eyes; ROP was noted in 3 eyes; FEVR was present in 3 eyes. Macula sparing retinal detachment was found in 16 eyes. Retinal attachment was achieved in 68/77 eyes. 결론 : Congenital or developmental anomalies, high myopia, and blunt trauma were the common risk factors for pediatric rhegmatogenous retinal detachment in Korea. Regular follow-up for children at risk of developing rhegmatogenous retinal detachment is necessary for early detection.
