목적 : The purpose of this report is to describe a technique for removal of the intraocular foreign body (IOFB) by viscoelastic capture using DisCoVisc during 23-gauge microincision vitrectomy surgery (MIVS).
방법 : After primary suture of the corneal entry site and phacoemulsification of the lens, 23-gauge MIVS was performed. The IOFB was separated completely from all surrounding tissues and the anterior chamber was refilled with DisCoVisc. The IOFB was grasped using intraocular forceps and lifted to the level of the anterior capsule. Then, the position of the IOFB was maintained without holding with the intraocular instrument. The IOFB was extracted through the main corneal incision site.
결과 : As the IOFB was extracted through the corneal incision site, conversion from 23-gauge MIVS to conventional 20-gauge vitrectomy is not necessary. Surgeons can observe the IOFB directly, so that injury of surrounding tissues can be prevented. In addition, the IOFB could be captured to the level of the anterior capsule by use of DisCoVisc, which could reduce the possibility of dropping the IOFB. As DisCoVisc could provide protection of corneal endothelium, surgeons could reduce the potential for injury of corneal endothelium during IOFB extraction.
결론 : Using this surgical technique, surgeons could easily and safely remove the IOFB.
